Last updated: March 2026
Overview
OpenName ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use the OpenName browser extension.
Data We Collect
OpenName collects the following data:
- AI Conversation Content: Text from your conversations with supported AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Doubao, Kimi, Perplexity, Grok)
- Google Account Info: When you sign in, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google
- Username: The unique username you register on OpenName
How We Store Your Data
- Local Storage (Default): All conversation data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. This data never leaves your device unless you enable cloud sync.
- Cloud Sync (Optional): If enabled, your data is synced to our secure servers (powered by Supabase) and encrypted in transit.
How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely to:
- Display your AI conversations in the extension
- Provide search and organization features
- Sync data across devices (if enabled)
- Generate your unique AI ID
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your conversation data is yours.
Data Retention
Local data persists until you clear it. Cloud-synced data is retained until you delete your account.
Your Rights
You can:
- Export all your data at any time (Markdown/JSON)
- Delete all local data from Settings
- Request deletion of cloud data by contacting us
Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure authentication via Google OAuth, and encrypted database storage.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated through the extension.
